Why is this interesting for me?

Volunteer Program


It was developed to provide volunteer assistance to the long-term monitoring, tagging and in-situ egg incubation research and conservation project for sea turtles at Chagar Hutang Turtle Sanctuary, Redang Island. This unique program will give you the chance to get up close with the ancient sea turtles (the green and hawksbill turtles) and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Student Internship Program

Internship Program is open for College/University students from local and international universities from March to September every year. Internship period can be from 4 weeks and above. This program offers student the opportunity to work hands on with endangered sea turtles, as well as to participate in the conservation, research and outreach activities conducted by SEATRU, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

Student = USD 200

Non-Student = USD 350

Student Internship Program

International students are required to pay RM300 and Malaysian Students (except intern student from UMT) are required to pay RM150 for registration.

No allowances are given. However, accommodation, food and transportation to the island will be covered by SEATRU, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

Learning objectives

Aimed at studying all aspects of the biology and ecology of sea turtles, threats to their survival, and how they can be managed in order to restore the various species to a stable population level
